Senior Master Sgt. Senior Master Sgt. Rodney Draeger, of the 119th Civil Engineer Squadron, operates a power screed, which is used to level out freshly poured concrete, June 24, at the North Dakota Air National Guard, Fargo, N.D. The concrete is being used for a foundation for a regional training site facility and is one of many construction and remodeling projects under way at the Fargo Air National Guard base.

He is a charter member of the North Dakota Air National Guard, which he joined January 16, 1947. The U.S. Air Force became a separate branch from the Army Sept. 18, 1947, eight months after Quam joined the North Dakota Air Guard’s 178th Fighter Squadron.
