The Happy Hooligans will host a three-day Arabic-Iraqi Familiarization Course for unit members at the 119th Wing Regional Training Site on Aug. 12-14.

The course is open to all military members and media personnel interested in learning about basic customs, courtesies and Arabic culture.

"The primary focus of the course is to culturally educate deploying service members to make the transition of living in the Middle East easier," said Senior Airman Theta Olson, course coordinator.

"We also have non-deploying members who have signed up because they feel it's important to understand what their deploying counterparts are going through," she said.

Instructors from the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) based out of Monterey, Calif. will travel to Fargo to conduct the course. DLIFLC provides culturally-based foreign language education, training and evaluation to Department of Defense personnel.

"We are very excited about this opportunity. In today's military we need to be able to form relationships with our military allies and this type of training helps facilitate that," said Olson.
