Saturday, Nov 14, 2009 -- Fargo, N.D. - Airmen from the 119th Wing, North Dakota Air National Guard will participate in a reintegration event at the Best Western Doublewood Inn tomorrow and Sunday. The purpose of the event is to help Airmen and their families adjust back to civilian life after a deployment.
The attendees of the event will include 23 Security Forces Airmen who deployed to Iraq from February to August 2009 and 51 family members and friends.
Experts from around the region will present various topics, to include: suicide prevention, the five love languages, individual counseling, healthy sleeping habits, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), domestic violence, plus much more.
"We have a strong Hooligan family with a priority to look out for each other. One way to do that is to make sure that our Airman and their families know that there are people who care about them and resources available if they need assistance," said Jody Harms, 119th Wing Family Program Coordinator.
This is part of the first sequence of events for the 119th Wing hosted by the Reintegration/Yellow Ribbon Office under the division of the North Dakota National Guard Service Member and Family Support Division.
"We have received great support from the 119th Wing. The Airmen have been receptive to the education and have assisted with input in making the schedule more tailored to the Air Guard," said 1Lt Rachael Walters, North Dakota National Guard Reintegration Officer.
"Overall this has been a wonderful display of a joint venture, which includes the Army and Air National Guard working together."
Media is invited to attend this event, please contact Capt. Penny Ripperger, 119th Wing Public Affairs Officer at 701-451-2194 to schedule a time to attend.
