219th Security Forces Squadron Welcomes New Commander

MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. --  The 219th Security Forces Squadron, North Dakota Air National Guard, welcomed only its second commander during a change of command ceremony at Minot Air Force Base on Sept. 8, 2018.

Maj. Greg Goodman was sworn in as commander and takes over for Lt. Col. Tad Schauer, who had been with the unit since 2007 and was named commander at its official activation in 2008. Schauer will move to a position at the North Dakota National Guard’s Joint Force Headquarters in Bismarck.

“I’m looking forward to carrying on the tradition of excellence that Lt. Col. Schauer started and has maintained since the very beginning,” said Goodman, who has also been with the unit since 2007. “Our unit has done something that no other guard unit in the country has done and I’m excited to lead our team into the next 10 years as we continue to pioneer.”

The 219th Security Forces Squadron is a geographically separate unit from the North Dakota Air National Guard, headquartered in Fargo. Since 2007, the unit has been providing security to the missile fields of Minot’s 91st Missile Wing while working jointly with its active duty counterparts. In 2013, the 219th was the first ever reserve component squadron to assume complete control of missile field security.
