Procedures for Enlistment in the Air National Guard (Non Prior Service)
After you have completed your junior year of high school and are at least 17 years of age (17-year-olds need parental consent), you may process for the Air National Guard. Call 1-800-972-8825 or (701) 451-2238 to schedule an appointment.
Processing includes taking the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test if you have not already done so. This computerized aptitude test determines which areas of the Air National Guard you are best qualified for. A copy of your Drivers License, Social Security Card, and Birth Certificate are required.
Next is the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) physical. This is a complete medical examination. The Air National Guard has medical standards, which must be met. There are also height and weight standards along with moral character standards.
Once it has been determined you are qualified for the Air National Guard, you may select your own job. We provide a listing of jobs that are currently available. If you enlist into a critical career field, you may have the opportunity to start out as an Airman First Class (E-3).
Time to make some decisions! Do you want to enlist? If so, when would you like to enlist?
You may enlist any time after the start of your senior year of high school. You can earn over $200.00 a weekend by working one weekend a month prior to leaving for Basic Military Training. You must attend Basic Military Training within one year of your date of enlistment. After graduating from Basic Military Training, you then go on to technical training to be trained in the job that you chose. Upon returning home, you are required to attend one drill weekend a month plus 15 days training per year.
