Chief Master Sergeant Shane J. Amundson serves as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Wing Commander of the 119th Wing, North Dakota Air National Guard, Fargo, N.D. In this capacity, he advocates for enlisted Airmen, drives their professional development, and supports initiatives to strengthen the Wing’s readiness and operational excellence.
He began his military career in January 1992 as a Fuels Specialist in the Fuels Management Flight. Over the next two decades, he rose through the ranks to become a Fuels Craftsman and later the Fuels Management Superintendent. During this time, he deployed multiple times in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, contributing to vital overseas missions.
In 2014, CMSgt Amundson transitioned to Superintendent of Wing Inspections. From 2022 to July 2023, he served as the Senior Noncommissioned Officer for Domestic Operations at Joint Forces Headquarters in Bismarck, N.D. He then assumed the role of Senior Enlisted Leader for the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Group (ISRG), where he provided strategic counsel to the Group Commander and mentored enlisted personnel across the organization.
He assumed his current position as Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Wing Commander in January 2025.
